Famous inland attractions in Coron

Coron does not only exhibit its stunning beaches, marine sanctuaries, and islands, but it also left tourists in awe with its breath-taking terrestrial landscapes. Wandering around the town to discover the inland attractions requires a mode of transportation such as a tricycle, motorbike, and van. Adventurers can also enjoy hiking and walking, going to some of the magnificent sceneries of the municipality. Each upcountry panorama of Coron brings unique attributes that continue to allure the travellers.

Let us guide you through some of the famous inland destinations in the town!

Take a fresh mountain-air at Mt. Tapyas

For visitors to witness the stunning moment of dusk in Coron, climbing the grassy Mt. Tapyas is ideal, measuring about 210 meters with 721 steps. Thus, the 2nd highest mountain and among the most prominent landform in the municipality. Climbing to the summit is easy as concrete steps were built to the comfort of the travelers. There are benches along the way for a moment of respite to tourists before reaching the mountaintop. Yes! You can burn your calories upon trekking to Mt. Tapyas.

Aside from experiencing the fresh mountain breeze skimming your skin, the spot is also perfect for sightseeing, as it is overlooking the colorful sky painted on the horizon of Coron bay and its adjacent heavy-forested islands. Travelers can freely witness the mesmerizing dense jungle and hills engulfing the town. At the summit, where the view deck is located, there is a giant cross sturdy built, which added to the attractions of the mountain. Mt. Tapyas is accessible to everyone in the Coron town proper.

What’s more exciting is that there is no entrance to fee to this beautiful spot, which added interest among tourists to stay active and relish the view during their vacation in the place.

A glimpse of Africa at Calauit Safari Park

From the underwater world is the impressive terrain of Calauit Safari Park, which offers you a taste of Africa in a pleasant tropical setting giving comfort to the wild animals.

One will be in awe looking after the African giraffes, zebras, and Calamian deers freely moving in the savannah of Calauit. Apart from the wild animals openly wandering in the vast park are crocodiles, pythons, a civet cat, a wild boar, and porcupine, which are held in captivity for the safety of the travelers.

The park is a grand experience, especially to zoophilists who never had a close encounter with such wild animals. Tourists who visited the pasturage, which is roughly 70 kilometers away from the Coron town— have the chance to experience waking up to the giraffes, zebras, and deers after a night in an open-walled gazebo as housing to campers. Calauit Safari Park was established in 1976 as a game reserve and wildlife sanctuary on a 3,700-hectare island. It is located in Busuanga, Palawan. A neighboring municipality of Coron. The place will surely lure the eyes of photographers and travel vloggers for its unique beauty.

Tourists can make their way to the park through organized tours offered by their hotel and resort accommodations. You may check the tour rate at SkyLodge Resort (redirect the word SkyLodge Resort to https://www.skylodgeresort.com.ph/

Reasons Why Tourists are Returning to Coron, Palawan

Tourists are always in awe of the captivating mountain and sea landscapes enveloping the island of Coron, Palawan. It is a paradise-like place secluded in the region of Mimaropa. The island is known as a home or an ancestral domain of the Tagbanua tribe protecting the natural wonders. Traveling on the vibrant land of the municipality will mark amazement and great memories. Returning to the place is a non-negotiable decision as it will make you feel that it’s always a first-time experience. Now, why should you set foot the second time around?

1. SCUBA DIVING ADDS THRILL TO YOUR SECOND-TIME EXPERIENCE

Going island-hopping is just a portion of the exciting activities in Coron. The untouched underwater wonders openly welcome tourists to experience the joy of plunging into the waters. The Philippines is a haven to dive sites, and Coron island also has several spots for an extraordinary vacation. One of the dive sites that continuously fascinate the divers and even the beginners is the Dimanglet Reef. Descending below several times gives you a different experience that you will always want to re-try. How bewildering it is to explore the undersea with diverse marine sanctuaries. A group of Fuselier fish, the colorful parrotfish, and sea turtles swimming just before your eyes will stun you.  The corals, like the cabbage, giving colors and life to the animals below are breathtaking. One couldn’t take their eyes from these wondrous beauties beneath the calm waves.

There are more breathtaking subaquatic sights at Siete Pecados. It is open water that is best for beginners. You can only think of admiration once you submerge and immerse yourself with the astonishing creatures of the deep such as the sea fan and table corals spreading under the vast ocean of Coron. If you are fond of watching how various fish enjoy their haven underwater, the angel, trigger, red snapper, and damselfishes will surely melt your heart —they are lovable! Indeed, it is a call to revisit the island.

2. THE PRISTINE BEACHES STUN EVERY VACATIONIST

Every beach on the island is a breathing haven for travelers! You can overhear other vacationists exclaiming that their second time around is always a discovery. The astounding white-sand beaches serving as relaxation spots are satisfying the visitors. Maybe the word "satisfying" is an understatement for the feeling the beaches are embarking on to the adventurers. The coconut and other trees growing became lusher this time, making the coastline of every beach rewarding for travelers to rest from the hustle and bustle of the city. You are living a dream when visiting phenomenal beaches such as Malcapuya island, banana island, and Bulog Dos.

I, who is a returning visitor is still in awe with Malcapuya island, which is one of the gems of the island. Have a look at this spectacular wonder!

3. THE WORLD WAR II SHIPWRECKS

Coron earned the spot as the best shipwreck diving in Southeast Asia. The historical shipwrecks are making the island famous to local and international divers. Certified and advanced divers return to re-experience and not just re-imagine the enchanting wrecks found beneath the sea. Different versions of stories from people who descend through the deep are thrilling but rewarding new adventures for them.

There are a few shallow wartime ships that sunk suitable for snorkeling. These are the Lusong gunboat and East Tangat. The latter showcases vibrant seabed inhabitants, which are vividly visible using goggles. Having your eyes wander below will leave a mark of astonishment.

The following are the identified historical shipwrecks that you can dive into and their respective estimated depths:

  1. Lusong Gunboat – 5 to 15 meters
  2. East Tangat (Tirukaze Maru) – 3 to 22 meters
  3. Skeleton shipwreck – 5 to 22 meters
  4. Irako Maru – 34 (deck) to 45 (seabed) meters
  5. Akitsushima Maru – 22 to 35 meters
  6. Olympia Maru – 30 meters
  7. Okikawa Maru – 10 to 26 meters
  8. Morazan Maru – 25 meters
  9. Kogyo Maru (Ekkai Maru) – 22 to 36 meters
  10. Kyokuzan Maru (Busuanga) – 20 to 39 meters meters
  11. Nanshin Maru (Black Island Wreck) – 21 to 32 meters

4. THE AFRICAN VIBES

Some vacationists have not yet visited the Calauit Safari in Busuanga, Palawan. It is a neighboring municipality of Coron, which is a 45-minute to one-hour land transport. From the Busuanga proper, you will travel by land for 30 minutes and another 20 minutes boat ride before reaching the entrance to the park. It is a vast land located towards the end of Busuanga.

Surprisingly, Calauit Safari brings a unique jungle experience to an island home to pristine white-sand beaches. You will have a close encounter with Kenyan giraffes and zebras freely wandering the extensive park. Once you enter the haven of the wilds, you will see some Calamian wild deer sharing life with the various trees and grasses sprouting in the vicinity.

By riding a truck, the tour guides will bring you to another park with a python caged in his home, little crocodiles, porcupines, philippine eagles, and monkeys. Calauit Safari should be in your bucket place when revisiting Coron!

5. HOSPITALITY AT ITS BEST!

Locals are welcoming to the guests. They safeguard you wherever you wander because it brings them joy seeing the tourists safely and comfortably journey with them. The hotels and resorts lived with the hospitality engraved by the ancestors in our hearts. One of the most-accommodating resorts in Coron is SkyLodge Resort. In January 2020, the hotel received a Traveller Review Award, granted by booking.com, for its excellent customer service. It is no doubt that visitors love and enjoy their vacation at the place.

There are more various astonishing tourist attractions you need to discover in Coron, especially if you only stayed for three or four days. Some visitors say that staying for 2 weeks lets them see more fascinating facts about the place. Let us wander with your as re-discover and uncover hidden gems on the island. BOOK WITH US NOW!

Want To Know If He or She’s The One? Take Them On A Weekend Date In Manila

Manila, Philippines – Did you know that aside from shopping and sightseeing, Manila is a great place to know if your current partner is for keeps? So you’ve been dating for quite some time and you’re thinking about kicking things up to the next level, but you really want to make sure. There’s a sure-fire way to know if they are worth it.

Bill Murray once famously said: “If you have someone who you think is The One, take that person and travel around the world. Go to places that are hard to go to and hard to get out of. And if when you come back to JFK, when you land in JFK, and you’re still in love with that person, get married at the airport.”

Manila, even with all its historical significance and undeniable charm, is not a walk in the park. Fortunately, with these tips on the things to do in Manila you can enjoy a weekend date with your partner while evaluating if he or she could be The One:

1.Food adventures in Binondo

You and your partner should enjoy the same things like eating together. Do they have allergies? Do they chew with their mouth open? Would they share their food? Would they yell at you when they are starving? You need to know these things. You’ll never run out of restaurants and holes-in-the wall to explore here in Binondo. All you need is time, patience, and a large appetite.

2. Art appreciation at National Museum

Aside from talking about how their day went and the latest on that TV show you both like, do they appreciate art and other fine things? Do they think its boring? Can they take cool photos for your IG? These are important things! Check out the National Museum’s social media pages for the latest exhibitions and gallery hours.

3. History lesson in Luneta, Intramuros

The climate in Manila could only be just two things: hot and sticky or dripping wet. Watch them react to the smoke and traffic while strolling along the city’s most famous and historical landmarks. Do they pay attention? Are they easily annoyed? Do they complain much? These are just some things to ponder.

4. Party along Escolta

In the daytime, Escolta is a busy strip with interesting shops and old buildings. At night, it turns into a hip block party where you can buy stuff from local artisans, eat gourmet street food, and drink cheap booze while dancing in the street. Will your partner enjoy the environment?  Or would they be a party pooper and ask to just go back to your hotel? Will they check out other people when they think you’re not looking? There’s only one way to find out and this is the right place to do it.

5. Let Manila Bay do its magic

If after all of the things you went through on this trip, you still like them and they still like you then lucky for you both. Sit in silence along Manila Bay and enjoy the sunset and the breeze with your partner-in-crime. Good luck!

5 Things I've Realized After Visiting Bicol For The First Time

Legazpi City, Philippines - 'I should probably get a hotel in Legazpi, Albay or perhaps an AirBnb next time' is just one of the many things I told myself last time I went there. You see traveling to Bicolandia is no walk in the park, but it truly is one of the most beautiful places and most rewarding trips I have ever had. Here are other things I have discovered that could possibly help make Bicol more fun or at least easier for you if you plan on going there:

1. If you could afford to fly there... DO IT!

Yes, road trips are fun. That's until you find yourself sitting on a bus, bored out of your mind, for 12, maybe 14 hours and counting... then they're not that fun anymore. If you could afford the plane tickets, take that route. You will save yourself from unnecessary stress and exhaustion. You'll even have more time and energy to enjoy the trip.

2. Do yourself a favor and drop by a Bigg's Diner

One of my greatest regrets is not getting the chance to stop by Bicol's most famous fast food place. Bigg's has been around since 1983 and has grown to 16 branches in the Bicol area alone. They have that distinct and nostalgic early Americana vibe and a home-style fried chicken and milkshake recipe that Bicolanos love. Luzon is slowly catching up with the announcement of a new branch opening soon in Fairview, QC.

3. Laing is the essential dish. Period.

In Manila, Bicol Express gets top billing. But you haven’t tasted laing (shredded taro leaves with meat or seafood cooked in thick coconut milk spiced with chili, lemongrass, garlic, shallots, ginger, and shrimp paste.) until you’ve had it in Bicol. In addition, foodies looking for the best local fare would probably not believe this, but they’re better off asking locals to cook for them instead. I’m sure there are great restaurants here, but ask any Bicolano and they’ll tell you this: the best local dishes are cooked at home.

4. The Mayon is truly stunning

Growing up in the 90’s, kids were bombarded with images of the country’s most iconic volcano. It’s in the history books, postcards, and posters in the walls in every classroom all over the archipelago. Most Filipinos probably haven’t seen it, but it is definitely ingrained in everyone’s consciousness. Needless to say, I was more than ready to face Mount Mayon… or was I? Nothing could have prepared me from the majestic sight of that perfect cone and that equally breathtaking Cagsawa Ruin on the foreground. Everything was surreal. I just wished the skies weren’t overcast that day. I also wish our group didn’t ask those hack photographers take souvenir photos. 5. Go on a side trip to the beach Most of Bicol is landlocked. So you have to drive all the way to Camarines Sur to get your dose of Vitamin Sea. It is, without a doubt, worth it.

BONUS TIP:

Where to stay in Legazpi, Albay? Check out The Oriental Legazpi. After exploring the Legazpi City tourist spots, you can look forward to having a rejuvenating massage at the outdoor spa or unwinding by the infinity pool overlooking Mayon Volcano. Fall in love with Mayon's beauty right in front of you as you take a break for the day.

Guests are sure to have a unique gastronomic experience at our hotel in Legazpi, Albay. Indulge in a variety of international dishes as well as local food favorites including Laing Bagnet, Pasta Bicolandia and the famous Bicol Express. At The Oriental Legazpi, you are greeted with a choreographed dance and a welcoming smile. Serving you with passion and dedication throughout your stay, the hotel staff will make you feel at home at The Oriental.

Beyond the majestic view of Mayon Volcano from the hotel, The Oriental Legazpi brings you closer to its beauty through the hotel's trusted ATV tour partners. Ride an all-terrain vehicle and experience coursing through volcanic rocks, creeks, and paths along the mountainside. An exhilarating 45-minute ATV ride will take you to the Mayon Lava Rocks where you can enjoy hiking and ziplining, perfect for capping off your ATV adventure.

Whether you’re a city mouse or one who’s needing a break from the bustling metro, you’ll find places in the Philippines that are perfect for a much needed getaway. Here are our recommendations for the best cities and provinces to visit in the Philippines.

CONCRETE JUNGLES

QUEZON CITY

Called by many as the North side of the metro, Quezon City claims to provide the best experience for prime lifestyle and residential living. It stands as one of the country’s most progressive cities, and boasts of shopping centers, a variety of food hubs, a thriving academic community, and great hangout locations.

With the numerous activities it presents, it’s no wonder it has been a go to place by many tourists. It is also home to some of the best hotels in Metro Manila like the edgy B Hotel QC in Sct. Rallos Street, where you can relax in picture perfect nooks that feature industrial designs in their modern interiors.

MAKATI CITY

Situated right in the heart of Metro Manila, this place has been considered as the one of the country’s most booming financial and business center. Peppered with high-rise buildings, party places, extravagant shopping malls, and world-class accommodations, this city paints a perfect scene of what a cosmopolitan is.

While Makati boosts of a variety of luxury hotels, it makes sure that a budget traveler won’t have a hard time looking for a place to stay. With Airbnb units, condotels, and service apartments available, there will surely be an appropriate choice for those traveling with tight pockets.

MUNTINLUPA

This city’s name may literally translate to a small piece of land, but its urban planners definitely know how to go big. Serving as Quezon City’s rival when it comes to being a choice for hangout spots, this city in the South is home to high-end malls, first-rate coffee shops and food crawls, events places, and a lot more options for the chillest night out with friends.

It is home to Alabang where luxury is not of shortage. Here, you can find prestigious malls that specialize on expensive brands, and premier 4-star hotels like The Bellevue Manila and B Hotel Alabang. It is also near several provinces in the south like Tagaytay, Laguna, and Batangas making it the best jump off point for a vacay in Southern Luzon.

RURAL LANDSCAPES

PALAWAN

Coron is debatably labeled by many tourists from all over the world as The Best Island in The World along with Bora Bora and Maldives. It boasts of El Nido’s stunning seascapes and towering limestone karsts, Puerto Princesa’s world renowned underwater cave, and Coron’s stunning beaches and diverse marine life.

Since 2015, it has slowly gained attention in the international travel scene and has since been visited by a lot of tourists from different parts of the world. Given that, it won’t be hard of anyone to find accommodations that would fit their corresponding budgets. With options ranging from luxury hotels to backpacker inns, Palawan has you covered.

SIARGAO

This teardrop shaped island used to be a low-key travel destination. A few years ago, only surfing geeks clamored to this paradise since it was known to be an amazing surfing spot. But it slowly attracted people for its natural beauty. Apart from surfing through its perfect curling waves, Siargao also offers a serene and simplistic community vibe that are sure to ease your worries.

As a proof of its charm, a lot of foreigners have decided to settle in this island and put up establishments that would offer tourists cozy options for accommodation. The entire island is peppered with cute themed inns, resorts, service apartments, and a lot more.

BOHOL

One of the most iconic travel destinations in the Philippines, Bohol cradles the magnificent color-changing Chocolate Hills. Within its 4,821 km2 land area are a variety of wondrous works of nature that are sure to enthrall you. It takes pride in giving travelers the complete experience through the different options it offers that range from slow paced activities, to adrenaline rushing ones.

It is also home to one of the country’s most famous island, Panglao, where pristine shorelines and crystal beaches can be found. Maximize your stay in the island by choosing the best Panglao hotel that would suit your type of activities. But if it’s immersing with nature that you want, an eco-friendly 5-star accommodation like The Bellevue Hotels would definitely be a good choice.

Unique Activities to Enjoy When You Visit Penang

Penang, Malaysia is thought to be stuck in a time loop. At every corner of the street you will see traces of the colonial period. A time when traders from all over the world drop anchor in its ports, ready to sell their wares for money or in exchange for rare and exotic goods.

But while Penang preserved so much of its history and heritage in their architecture, they were able to incorporate modern styles and comforts in a way the harmonises the new with the old. Indeed, travelling here is more than just a trip to a Malaysian island, it is an experience.

Before you book that Penang accommodation though, let’s talk about what you can do during your visit. A lot of Penang lists talk about the destinations you should go to and the food you must try on your trip, but none will be as specific as this list. Here, we enumerate unique activities you can add in your itinerary.

Count all the artworks along the streets of Georgetown

There are countless art installations and murals you can find along the streets of Georgetown. You can turn this into a game with friends or family — the most art a person finds wins a cold dessert from the hawker centres!

It is going to be a day-long activity, so make sure hunting down these artworks is not going to eat up much of your time. Instead, make this game a trip-long activity so that you can still do other things during your stay.

    Go on a food crawl

If there is one thing we love about Penang, it’s the food. Considered to be the food paradise in Malaysia, travellers can visit various restaurants, cafes, and hawker centres offering unique takes on international cuisine or serving the best local dishes.

Make sure you try Penang favourites like the Laksa or the Char Koay Teow. However, expect huge crowds in hawker centres on certain days, which means you might have to buy easy-to-carry food instead since seats will be limited.

    Tour Georgetown on a trishaw

Find trishaw peddlers in Georgetown and take a tour of the historic UNESCO World Heritage Site while enjoying the cool morning breeze of Penang. It’s so easy to spot trishaws because they’re basically tricycles with brightly coloured umbrellas.

The price usually differs per driver, but prepare at least an hourly rate of RM 30.

Visit the Kek Lok Si Temple at night

The Kek Lok Si Temple is one of the most famous destinations in Penang. It is the largest Buddhist temple in Malaysia built with a seven-storey Pagoda of Rama VI. It also features 10,000 alabaster and bronze statues of Buddha, and a 120-foot tall bronze statue of Kuan Yin, the goddess of mercy.

It’s magnificent to look at in the light of day, but it’s a different experience at night. It’s like looking at a whole different side of the temple which is much more serene.

Plan your escape at Penang’s ESCAPE theme park No, this isn’t like an escape room where you and your friends attempt to break out of a locked space. ESCAPE offers a different kind of, well, escape. If you are tired of the city, this is where you go to chill and shake off all that stress. This is a theme park surrounded by lush greenery, very near the Penang Butterfly Farm. Here you can enjoy free falling, tower climbing, and other outdoor activities.

Chill out at Batu Ferringhi beach

Cap off a tiring day exploring the city at Batu Ferringhi beach. Here, you and your companions can just lounge at the beach, getting the sun-kissed tan plus the clear waters of the sea. There are countless water activities you can do like wakeboarding or jet skiing. But nothing beats just chilling on your beach mats with a cocktail in hand, maybe watching the sun as it dips in the horizon.

To make your trip even more rewarding, you can choose to stay in a hotel that will make your commute to and from these places so easy to do. Hotels like The Northam All Suite Penang.

Right now, they’re offering 40% off your accommodation when you book the Northam Special Deal. It comes with a buffet breakfast inclusion and Jacuzzi tub in the suites.

On your visit to Penang, make sure you include these activities in your list and enjoy all that the island has to offer.
